Kia Ora Whanau and Families

Welcome back to KidzWay for 2021.☺ We hope you all had a refreshing break, and are ready for all that this new year has in store. Please note the upcoming events listed below on your calendars as we take advantage of the summer weather.

Welcome to all our new families. ☺ We look forward to getting to know you. Please don't hesitate to ask questions if you are unsure of any aspect about KidzWay. Keep up to date by checking out the green glass board as you enter the Centre for what's currently “on top” at KidzWay. Plus our web page has lots of helpful information too.

Don’t forget to send those family selfies in to Kath so your kids can spot themselves and your whanau on our family tree.

Happy Term 1 everyone.

Special Person’s Night

When: Wednesday 3 March, 5:30pm-7:00pm

Where: Here at KidzWay

Cost: Gold coin donation towards dinner - meat patties, coleslaw, hot chips and bread. Vegetarian option available - please text the Centre phone 027 5558045 if you require a vegetarian pattie.

Why: This is a lovely opportunity for children to bring Dad or a Special Person along to play with them at KidzWay and show off their place of play and learning. We will have a simple dinner, followed by some fun games. As much as we love to see all the family, for catering and safety reasons please a maximum of 2 special people only per child. Thank you. ☺

Parent Consultation Evening

We invite you all to our parent consultation evening on Monday 8 March at 7:30pm. Please come along and work with us on the following:

  • Changes to our Food Procedures - Lunch boxes with food that meets the new guidelines will be presented. We will also be posting ideas and recipes on Facebook or email. Thank you to Holly Roulston for her time and expertise in creating these to share with our families.

  • Changes to our Sun Safety Procedure

  • Changes to our Individual Planning

  • Feedback from our ERO report

  • Any other questions that parents would like to discuss.

Kaka Point Beach/Bus Trip

We plan to run this fun, popular day out again this year. Thursday 11 March is pencilled in, weather permitting. As well as the Thursday children, all families are welcome to attend this trip. Best practice is to have a 1:1 adult to child ratio around water, so parent help is required to make this event happen. The bus trip is part of the exciting experience for the children on this day, and we do encourage you to use this (approximately $15 per person - to be paid the week prior to the trip). Please note your intentions for the day on the form by the sign-in sheet ASAP. Many thanks.

Easter Celebrations

Come along and join us for fun, games and an Easter Egg Hunt at our KidzWay Easter Celebrations on Thursday 1 April starting at 1:30pm. Please bring a plate* to share for afternoon tea. All welcome.

*Please note: under the new food guidelines, we will provide you with plate ideas closer to the time.

Reminders

  • Please ensure your child's name is on a hook when you arrive, as they will need to pop their clothes, shoes, jackets and hats on this throughout the day.

  • Please provide your child with their own wide-brimmed named hat (and take it home each day).

  • We are a gladwrap-free Centre - important for the environment, and also it helps children learn how to unwrap their food independently.

Policies Currently Under Review

  • Accident, Illness and Incident Procedure

  • Visitors to the Centre Procedure

  • Equal Employment Opportunities

  • Dress Code

Thank You…your contribution is greatly appreciated

  • The Hekerangi family who gave generously of their time and effort to move the huge pile of bark onto our barked area.

  • Gavin Grant and Alex Findlay for replacing building paper, netting and clear light along the verandah. Thanks for your generous discount and hard work.

  • Everyone who voted for the KidzWay Christmas tree at the Chemist - we were presented with $103.10, which we will put towards resources for the children.

  • Graeme and Elizabeth Beattie for caring for the budgies over the Christmas break.
