Kia Ora Families and Whanau
It is so lovely to have you all back after a time that has brought a number of mixed emotions for us all. The children have transitioned back to KidzWay really well. We would also like to welcome eight new families to KidzWay; we look forward to getting to know you and your children better so we can develop meaningful learning around the interests your children have.
On behalf of the Trust, teachers and I, we want to thank you for your patience and cooperation with the changes we had to make in operating the Centre at Level 2. It is a relief to be at Level 1 now! Let's continue to work together and remain vigilant in keeping safe as we heed the Government’s 10 golden rules. :)
Ka Kite, Denise (Head Teacher), Josanne, Michelle, Alison, Nicky, Sally, Fiona and Kay (Teachers) and Kath (Administrator)
PS: Our Family Tree is looking really bare; please email/bring us in your family photos. We currently have 50 families on the roll. The children love spotting themselves and you on the wall. Thanks. :)
COVID-19 Level 1 at KidzWay
Please continue to sanitise your hands and your child's hands on entering the Centre, or wash with soap and water once in the Centre.
Teachers will continue to teach correct hand-washing skills and sneeze/coughing into your elbow.
“Fancy Nancy” Day - Wednesday 17 June
The children have been enjoying having the book “Fancy Nancy” (written by Jane O’Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser) read to them.
So to extend the book’s content of fun with words and being loved, we are planning a Fancy Nancy dress-up day and will serve some fancy food!! If you can help us with girls’ and boys’ dress-up clothes, hats, fascinators, scarves, ties, feathers, old necklaces, shoes etc, please bring them in. “That would be absolutely stupendous and fabulous!!!”
Due to the COVID-19 Rahui, Ngahere Explorers has not been able to run this term. However we plan to start this up again on Wednesdays at the beginning of Term 3, starting on Wednesday 22 July.
There will be a short meeting for parents of Wednesday four-year-olds who have not been involved in this programme before, at 9:00am onWednesday 15 July. Kath will be notifying parents involved soon.
In Support of Ronald McDonald House in Invercargill
By now you will have all received your black plastic rubbish bag to design into a wearable art garment for your child. This is a fundraiser/nonperishable food donation event for Ronald McDonald house in Invercargill.
We will be holding a fashion parade at the Church (up behind KidzWay) on Tuesday 23 June at 9:30am. Please either meet us there with your child dressed and ready to walk the catwalk at 9:30am, or come to KidzWay a bit earlier to get dressed and walk up with us. A box for nonperishable food is in the KidzWay foyer and also a container for funds. Thanks, we are looking forward to seeing your creativity.
Education Review Office (ERO) Review
Just to update you - we have had two scheduled dates for an external review of KidzWay by ERO that have been deferred. One was in the first week of February, the second was in the second week of April 2020. We continue to await for a new date to arrive from them.
Message from KidzWay Trust
We are indeed pleased that we have been able to welcome back all our families to KidzWay - our teachers have been missing seeing you all.
The KidzWay Trust would like to thank Denise, Kath, Robbie (KidzWay Trust chairperson) and all the teachers for all their hard work and dedication during the lockdown period, for keeping things running smoothly and for working through all the issues that arose.
The Trust would also like to welcome Cindy Harliwich onto the KidzWay Trust as a co-opted parent representative. We certainly appreciate having parents represented on the Trust as we act like a school board governing KidzWay Early Learning Centre.
