Newsletter No. 1 - February 2024

“Trust in the Lord in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:4-6

Kia Ora Whānau and Families,

Welcome back to KidzWay for 2024. We sincerely hope you have all had a refreshing break and are enjoying the summer. The Air Conditioners installed just before Christmas have been wonderful on the hotter days.

Please take a minute or two to read through this newsletter and mark your calendar with the upcoming events.

It's great to see you all back, the teachers are eager to hear about your child's holiday adventures and current interests, so they can plan some great learning activities around these 😍

Fathers/Special Persons’ Night

When: Wednesday 21 February, 5:30pm-7:00pm

Where: Here at KidzWay

Cost: Gold coin donation towards dinner - meat patties, coleslaw, hot chips and bread.  Vegetarian option available - please text the Centre cell phone 027 5558045 if you require a vegetarian pattie.

Why: This is a lovely opportunity for children to bring Dad or a Special Person along to play with them at KidzWay and show off their place of “work” play and learning.  We will have a simple dinner, followed by some fun games.  As much as we love to see all the family, for catering and safety reasons please a maximum of 2 special people only per child.  Thank you. ☺

Kaka Point Beach/Bus Trip

After 3 years of cancellations due to Covid and bad weather, we hope to run this fun, popular day out again this year. We have penciled this in for Thursday 7 March, weather permitting. (Postponement date Friday 8th March) As well as the Thursday children, all families are welcome to attend this trip.  Best practice is to have a 1:1 adult to child ratio around water, so parent help is required to make this event happen. The bus trip is part of the exciting experience for the children on this day, and we do encourage you to use the bus. We still have the unused funding from Harliwich Contracting  who donated $1000.00 two years ago. Please note your intentions for the day on the form by the sign-in sheet ASAP,  so we can get the trip and Bus organised. Many thanks.

Sunscreen Procedure and Survey

We have been informed that some parents already apply sunscreen before they arrive

at KidzWay. Also, some Centres get parents to apply sunscreen as they arrive in the mornings.

Currently, our Sunscreen procedure guides teachers to apply sunscreen twice a day, (approximately at 11am and 1pm,) with an A for AM and a P for PM stamped on the child's hand. As you can imagine it is a time consuming process!

We invite your choice by voting using the “buttons” by the sign in sheet in the foyer. Please, only one vote per family.   (To get a clear opinion, we are looking for at least 75% of families to vote. Thankyou)

  • Choice A) keep it as it is.

  • Choice B) On arrival, Parents apply sunscreen and stamp their child's hand with the stamp provided. Teachers will apply sunblock again at 1pm.

Thanks  for working with us to protect your child's skin! (If you already have other skin care plans in place with us, these will continue as normal)

General News and Reminders.

  • Update on purchases from fundraising since October 2023: We have spent $10,447.75 (inc GST) for Air Conditioning and $290.00 on two scooters.

  • Please remember to provide your child with a named Bucket Hat, spare named clothes, and a wet bag in their bags (available at KidzWay.)

  • Please send/email a family photo of your whanau/family for our whānau tree at KidzWay. Children love seeing their families up there.

When your child is going to be ABSENT from KidzWay, please ring and let us know so we can assess staffing needs or even plan spontaneous walks when child numbers are low. Thanks.

Thank You…
